Mr Mark!

I attained my degree in environmental science from Plymouth University in 1992. Throughout the 1990’s I worked for a number of charities, environmental organisations and NGO’s. I was involved in fundraising, communications, administration and office management. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s I also took on a variety of positions connected with ICT, finance, and telecommunications. In 2008 I started my teacher training in Valencia (Spain). For the next four years I taught secondary science (Y7-13) in Valencia and Barcelona. Austerity hit and in late 2012 I came back to the UK and became a free-lance writer and science tutor - which is how I became involved in the student shed. Outside of work I am something of an environmental and political activist. I fight passionately and with absolute and total commitment to the causes of social and environmental justice. I am member or connected to several organisations concerned with dealing with climate change fracking and energy issues, stopping conflict and warfare along the arms sales which fuel it, I am a vociferous opponent of austerity economics and believe we need to change the way “things are done” if we are to have a future. My interests are music, travel, reading, film, literature, cooking and a damned good party!
